I remember once thinking that all of the college students on deviantart were silly for complaining about never having time to do art because school was robbing them of their time, money, and souls.  Surely they could find the time to upload a sketch or two.

....

But now that I'm in college, I understand completely.  Pretty much every second of my time is occupied by school, work, or sleep.  I go to school in the morning, go to work in the afternoon, and do homework in the evening five days a week.  On weekends, I study and catch up on the sleep lost during the week.  It's funny how time flies by.  

Anyhoo, it's been so long since I've posted a journal that I thought this would be a good time to do it!  I'm honestly not sure when I'll get time to do art, but I will post a sketchdump or something like that soon.

Updates on the Life of Kristy:

- I got a job at the beginning of the summer which is awesome.  It's on campus, pays well, and has super flexible hours.

- I'm doing well in school.  I'm even getting A's in my science course (howy cwap).

- Japanese class sucks because it lacks structure and a good teacher, but it also rocks because I have great friends in that class!

- I'm quickly learning just how out-of-place I am in my school.  Everyone gets drunk and/or high for shits and giggles.  What happened to having REAL fun?

- Boyfriend is the only reason I am sane.

- I'm a gamer now I guess.  TEAM FORTRESS TWOOOOOOOO!!!!

- I'm surprised by how few bullet points I could come up with.  I guess that there hasn't been much happening in my life after all :I

I'll post a comic about my new college life or something in the near-ish future.  I better get back to my lame essay now >.>

Well, I just realized that it's the last day of 2010.  The past two days have been pretty lousy, but I made 2010 a good year for myself.

I have an amazing boyfriend.
I'm getting stellar grades.
I got into my top choice college.
So what could my new year's resolution possibly be?
This year I promise to embrace my own independence; I promise to earn my stay at college by studying the subject I love most, and to make my own life by my own means and standards.  

I promise to make 2011 a wonderful year for myself, to take advantage of the wonderful circumstances I have worked hard to earn.  I hope that everyone else has a grand new year C:

New years aside...I've been having an interesting Christmas break!  I spent the first week with my mother and sister in California; I was super antsy the entire week, always searching for ways to entertain myself.  I slept in as late as I could, drew for as long as I could stand, and even power-cleaned my room in the highest peaks of my boredom.

I got some pretty cool stuff for Christmas!  I got a little bit of money, oodles of giftcards (8D!), earrings, rainboots, tons of clothing, and, my favorite, a coffee maker   I will most definitely need it in my dorm 8D!

I flew into Colorado on Christmas day, and spent the day at my older sister's house with niecey-poo (who is almost two and is talking up a storm~).  Day two in Colorado was spent with my boyfriend, whom I hadn't seen in four and a half months (guhhh).  Since then I've been juggling my time between being bored to death with my father and sister and going on various shenanigans with the boyfoo.  Tomorrow I'll be heading out with the boyfoo to see Tron:Legacy!  Nerd love ohh yeahhh

I am super busy.  I just finished an econ project that I left to the last minute (it was assigned almost two months ago and is due tomorrow), but I managed to complete and do a pretty decent job on it in four hours.  BOO YAH.

In other news, I am an A-sian.  Not a B-sian or a C-sian, but a bona fide A-sian. I've actually been in school this year, so I'm actually getting good grades. After my huge OMGWHYDOIGETSICKSOOFTENGUHIMSOSCREWED phase last year, it's nice to be back on track!

....aaaand speaking of academics, I get to take the SAT this Saturday.  It's going to be oodles and oodles of fun.  

I'll try to crank out some new art soon....I've been too busy to do anything recently :/  the only artsy things I've done have been for my school paper (yep, I'm a journalism nerd).  I have a couple of ideas for comics, so maybe I can get those done once I'm finished with college apps!  ....oh shit.  college apps.  riiiiiight.

anyhoooo I'm starting to ramble now so I'll shut up and conclude this lame little journal by saying that I hope everyone is doing faaaaaahbulously.

So.....   

I'm pretty busy at the moment, which is why I've been super bad about replying to any of the messages I've received.  SORRY D:

I start school on Thursday, so I'm scrambling to get my summer assignments together, but that's just fine... I'm trying to keep myself distracted anyways!

Summer of 2010 was very, very good to me.  For the most part anyways.

I spent three hours a day, five days a weeks in a five week long Japanese course at CU.  It was a fun experience, even though many of my classmates were pretty icky.  I learned a lot and felt extremely productive!  I even brought the boyfoo along with me to class on several occasions; it made sitting through three hours of class much more bearable!

I also had a lot of fun hanging out with my siblings; both my older brother and my older sister are out in CO, so I got to see them often!  Babysitting niecey-poo was also a blast!  She still calls me "Disty" C:

Did I mention that I learned how to cook?  IT WAS AWESOME.  My boyfriend and I started learning how to cook lots of different recipes!  We got together at his house for dinner 3-5 times a week, which meant lots of cooking!  We also made tiramisu.  TWICE.  So good OH MAH GAW.  We also managed to keep the kitchen not-on-fire : D  go team!

I spent the last week of my summer going through college apps.... ugh.  I can't complain too much though; I got through a huge chunk of all four of my applications!  I also wrote four essays....ugh.... that was super fun.  I know I'll be thanking myself come November, when everyone else is rushing their own apps....

My highlight of the summer was celebrating my anniversary with the boyfoo!  We made tiramisu to celebrate 8D  It was super duper awesome.  And he loved his gift : )  yaaaay

I came back to California two days ago, so I'm feeling a bit down... I really miss my family and my boyfriend.  It's going to be another four months before I fly out again, but until then I'll be working super hard!  

I'll be having a pretty busy semester given that I'll be submitting college apps on top of doing my regular schoolwork....  that being said, I'm not sure how often I'll be able to update, but I'll do my best!

After an absolutely soul-crushing week of finals, my summer has officially started!  I landed in Colorado yesterday and have been having a marvelous time ever since : )  I just unpacked everything in my room; it feels great!  I feel like I'm home again....  I love seeing all of my Japanese textbooks and art supplies neatly organized!  It reminds me of last summer~

I've got a lot of great things ahead of me for the summer...
first, I've got my Japanese course at CU (which starts early July).  I had oodles and oodles and oodles of fun last summer studying Japanese, and can't wait to do it again! My classroom isn't in the football stadium this time (like it was last summer Dx) so I might actually be able to withstand the heat ahaha

I'm also going to be getting at least two college apps (eeeek!) out of the way over the next two months; I know, not fun, but I'll be thanking myself for it in November when everyone else is rushing to finish theirs!  Which reminds me...I also have my AP Lit summer assignment to do.....I'll do that later hur hur.....

Fambam!  I'll be doing quite a bit of hanging out with my fantabulous family over the summer!  I have yet to see Niecey-poo, but when I do visit next week, there shall be a crapload of pictures 8D  I also get to hang out with my older sister and brother yaaaay~  Family get-togethers are surprisingly fun with my family in Colorado C:

Can't forget the boyfriend!  I met up with him yesterday at the airport!  It was awesome~  He's coming up to my house later today; we're going to watch Hot Fuzz then go walk around a nearby mall 8D  I missed that guy so darn much over the last two months :/
